Pierce to Opt Out

[photogallerylink id=31248 align=right]Celtics All-Star F Paul Pierce is going to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent. His agent, Jeff Schwartz, notified the Celtics of his decision. Pierce gives up $21.5 in salary for next season. He can sign a maximum 4 years $96 million deal with Boston, while the most he can be offered from another team is 4 years $93 million.

Paul Pierce joins a who's-who free agent list that features teammate Ray Allen as well as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, and others.
