Pedroia: 'We Should Be Pretty Darn Good'
FORT MYERS, FL (CBS) – Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia reported to training camp Friday morning and said his broken left foot is repaired.
"There's a screw in there holding it together. I feel great. there's not going to be any setbacks or anything like that," he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller.
"(I had to) get my leg back to normal. some of the things I was trying to do weren't the right things to do. But we found a way to make me feel strong, and I feel great right now."
"I've taken ground balls, turned double plays, run the bases, I've done everything, so, I'm ready to go."
This will be Pedroia's fifth full season with the team and he's excited about all of the off-season moves.
"1-through-9, we should be pretty darn good."
Asked where he'd like to be in that lineup, Pedroia said he doesn't care.
He spent some time Friday with Adrian Gonzalez and he's looking forward to playing with Carl Crawford, one of his former workout partners in Arizona.
"I put some whoopings on him in ping pong and I talked a lot of trash to him, but I'm just glad he's on our team."
"It's going to be fun to have him on our side."
Pedroia also let his hair grow – on the sides. He's still bald up top.
"I think it looks solid," he said.
