Wes Welker Scheduled To Have A Toss With Tom Brady This Weekend

BOSTON (CBS) -- Someone check on Julian Edelman, because Tom Brady is playing catch with an old friend this weekend.

Brady can't do anything with his Patriots teammates during his four-game suspension, so to stay sharp he's looking to toss the ole pigskin around a little bit. His supermodel wife isn't a bad option, but this weekend he's turning to Wes Welker to haul in some passes.

Welker spilled the beans about their game of catch on Friday morning when he served as a guest host on WQAM in Miami. The former Patriots receiver will be in town to attend Sunday's Patriots-Dolphins game, and reached out to Brady to grab a bite to eat.

But Brady, who will serve as an honorary captain at Saturday's Michigan-Colorado game at The Big House, had a better idea.

"I hit him up to do dinner Saturday night. He's like, 'I'm going to be flying in from Ann Arbor later, but how about that morning we go throw?'" Welker said. "It's just funny. I'm sitting there trying to have dinner and, 'Hey, get your ass up here and let's go throw.' I'm like, 'Aw jeez, man.' He's going to have me running like 2-minute drills in his backyard or something."

So Welker will now be bringing a pair of cleats with him when he heads back to New England. He caught 633 passes from Brady during his six years with the Patriots, so it shouldn't be too hard to get back on the same page.

That is, if Edelman doesn't cut him off at the airport.
