Patriots Cheerleaders Heading Overseas

FOXBORO (CBS) -- As the Patriots prepare to take on Green Bay, Patriots cheerleaders are quickly getting ready for an even more important mission.

On Monday, six cheerleaders are heading overseas to deliver and share the thousands of holiday cards written by kids here in Massachusetts.

"They are away from their homes and families and everyone in America. We hope that Patriots cheerleaders will bring support and companionship," Coach Tracy Sormanti said.

WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports.

For the past few days the Patriots have been combing though a room full of cards.

"When you open this card up there are two candy canes. And it says I appreciate you and everyone in the war. I hope you will enjoy the candy cane give the other one to a little boy or little girl over there," Patriot cheerleader Kelsey Fournier said.

This is the Patriots twentieth visit overseas since September 11, 2001. For security purposes they don't know where they are going. They will be gone for two weeks.
