Brother Of Officer Sean Collier Reacts To Stephen Silva Sentencing
BOSTON (CBS) – The brother of MIT Officer Sean Collier says that he has faith in the United States justice system a day after the man whose gun was used in Collier's murder was sentenced to time already served.
Stephen Silva was sentenced to 17 months on Tuesday and allowed to walk free having already served the time in prison.
Silva pleaded guilty to drug and weapons charges and testified against his friend Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The Tsarnaev brothers used Silva's gun to murder Collier in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.
On Wednesday, Officer Collier's brother Andrew reacted to the judge's decision in a statement to WBZ-TV.
"I believe in the U.S. Justice System just as Sean did," Andrew Collier said. "Happy holidays to everyone, and enjoy time with your family. It is precious."
