Nomar Joins Red Sox Then Retires
The Red Sox have also called a press conference for 10:30 this morning. Nomar Garciaparra is expected to sign a 1 day contract with the team, and then announce his retirement. He will then take a job with ESPN. Nomar originally spent 8+ seasons with the Sox before being traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2004.
He played 14 seasons in the majors with the Red Sox, the Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics, hitting .313 wuth 229 career homers.
