NightSide - Obama Picks A Supreme Court Nominee
BOSTON (CBS) - President Obama, remaining true to his word, has nominated Judge Merrick Garland to fill the open seat on the Supreme Court. Though Garland has been supported and respected by both Republicans and Democrats in the past, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has doubled down on the GOP's stance and said the Senate will refuse to grant President Obama's nominee a hearing, never mind a vote. Horace Cooper, former Constitutional Law professor at George Mason University, weighs in on the President's nomination. Do you think Republicans should walk back their original rhetoric and consider this moderate candidate? Or should they refuse to compromise and insist on waiting until after the next President is inaugurated before filling the Supreme Court void?
