NightSide - A Boston Globe Update and President Obama Acts On Gun Control
BOSTON (CBS) - First, we get a breaking news update on the Boston Globe's delivery issues with CEO Mike Sheehan. Then, President Obama spoke today, and laid out his plan to address gun violence through executive action. At times becoming emotional, the President explained that he believes something must be done to end tragedies such as the Sandy Hook massacre and the daily shootings in places like Chicago. The executive action will extend background checks to cover sales by more casual dealers, who previously were not required to obtain federal licenses. Though the President attempted to assure gun owners this is not a slippery slope to confiscation, some remain unconvinced, and believe this is an overreach of the federal government's power. What do you think? Do expanded background checks make sense? Or is it too dangerous to enact gun control measures, no matter what?
