Newton Police Seek Help Finding Suspects In Consignment Shop Robbery

NEWTON (CBS) – Newton Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man and woman who allegedly robbed a consignment shop at knifepoint in broad daylight Saturday.

At around 4 p.m., a woman entered Second Appearance on Washington Street, browsed some items and left the store saying she would return with another person, Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker told WBZ-TV. The woman returned with a man about an hour later.

The pair brandished a knife at the store's clerk and restrained her hands and feet, Apotheker said. They also placed duct tape over a female worker's mouth, Apotheker said.

The pair allegedly stole an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry and left the store on foot, Apotheker said.

The woman was able to free herself from the restraints minutes later and call for help, Apotheker said.

"We consider these suspects armed and dangerous," Apotheker said. "It's a brazen crime. It was five 'o clock in the afternoon."

Police got surveillance images of the suspects from a camera connected to a nearby store, Apotheker said.

The clerk sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
