Needy Children Get $100 Shopping Spree In Plymouth
PLYMOUTH (CBS) -- One hundred children got a special holiday treat Saturday morning in the annual "$100 For 100" shopping spree event.
Saturday's event, held at Dick's Sporting Goods in Plymouth, was funded by the Joyal Capital Management Foundation.
The children, who are nominated to participate in the program based on their needy circumstances, get a chance to buy gifts they would otherwise not be able to afford.
Brothers Andrew, Derrick and Kyle lost their father to cancer this summer. "This is probably the stuff I wanted for Christmas," Kyle said after making his purchases.
Gary Joyal said supporting the event is an emotional experience. "Just listening and reading the stories and being able to see their faces and understanding if we can bring one day where they don't have that drama or that stress in their life and just treat them like royalty, it's a great feeling," he said.
