Fatal Crash Shuts 495 South In Plainville After Wrong-Way Driver Report

PLAINVILLE (CBS) – A multi-car crash on Interstate 495 in Plainville just before 10 p.m. Sunday has left at least one person dead and five others seriously injured.

State police said that just prior to the crash, troopers from the Foxboro barracks were responding to reports of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-495 southbound between exits 13 and 14.

Six vehicles were involved in the crash, state police said. The Foxboro Fire Department reported two people were taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and two were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

The crash closed all southbound lanes at Exit 14 and traffic was being detoured at Route 1.

The Foxboro, Wrentham and Plainville Fire Departments responded to the scene along with state police.
