Woman Accused Of Drugged, Drunken Driving In Crash That Hurt Officer

MILFORD (CBS) — A Milford woman is facing drugged and drunk driving charges after an early morning crash that injured a Milford police officer.

Emily Cicconi, 22, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs, negligent driving, possession of Oxycodone, driving with an open container of alcohol, failure to stop for flashing red light, unlawful possession of fireworks and unlawful storage of fireworks.

Cicconi, who has a lengthy driving record, was held on a probation violation. Details on that probation violation were not immediately available.

Police say Cicconi was driving a Lexus sedan when it collided with a police cruiser at West and Congress streets at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

There was extensive damage to both vehicles.

Police say Officer Steven Sousa was taken to the hospital with a concussion and a contusion to his knee but he is expected to recover.

Witnesses say a man and a young child were also in Cicconi's car.

Cicconi, whose license was suspended following Thursday's crash, has a lengthy driving record that includes several surchargeable accidents with property damage and bodily injury liability.

According to her driving record, Cicconi was involved in surchargeable accidents causing property damage on Jan. 19 and Jan. 3 of this year; and in August 2017, May  2015, August 2014, and June 2013. On May 15, 2015, she was involved in a surchargeable accident causing bodily injury liability.
