Man Charged With Murder Over Deadly December Fire In Rutland
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A 35-year-old man who was charged earlier with stealing a woman's car and misleading police after she died in a December fire is now charged with murder.
Amador Roman was indicted Friday by a Worcester County grand jury for the death of 53-year-old Diane Lamarche-Leader. Her body was discovered by firefighters who responded to a blaze at her Rutland home on Dec. 6.
A spokesman for the Worcester County district attorney's office says the causes of her death and the fire are under investigation.
Authorities say Lamarche-Leader was a nurse who assisted people with substance abuse problems and Roman, who was homeless, had been staying with her.
Twenty-one-year-old Angel Santiago of Worcester has been charged as an accessory after the fact.
The two men will be arraigned in Worcester at a later date.
