Man Arrested With Loaded Gun Outside Manchester, NH, Bar
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire man was arrested when police say he loaded a gun outside a bar after being denied entrance.
Manchester police arrested Joseph Riley, 22, at about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning and charged him with criminal threatening.
Officers were flagged down by a man on Elm Street who said he was threatened by a man with a handgun nearby.
Police found that Riley and a friend were trying to enter McGarvey's Pub, but were denied by a bartender because they appeared to be intoxicated.
Another man thought he could help prevent an altercation, so he stood near Riley.
That's when police said Riley pulled out a Glock .380 handgun, pulled the slide back and loaded a bullet into the weapon's chamber.
The man felt threatened by Riley's behavior and ran to flag down an officer who was nearby in his patrol car.
Riley was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear on the criminal threatening charge on June 9 in Manchester's 9th Circuit Court.
