Lexington Resident Jill Stein Is Running For President

BOSTON (AP) - Another Massachusetts resident is jumping into the race for the White House.

Jill Stein of Lexington is planning to announce Monday that she will seek the presidential nomination of the Green Party.

Stein is proposing what she's calling a Green New Deal to end unemployment in America and jump start a recovery.

Stein's plan would provide public jobs for the unemployed, including green jobs that she said will transition America to a secure, green economy for the 21st Century.

Stein is hoping to tap into dissatisfaction from the left to President Barack Obama, saying he betrayed key voting blocs.

Most recently Stein finished a distant fourth in the 2010 governor's race as a candidate for the Green/Rainbow Party.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is running for the Republican nomination for president.
