The North Pole Express Appeared In Boston During Keolis' Annual Ride
BOSTON (CBS) -- Many boarding the commuter rail are heading to or from work, making an all too familiar trek. On Saturday, though, the MBTA took some for a magical ride.
About 800 area children boarded the train Saturday afternoon for a ride on the famous North Pole Express, this time run by Keolis. The trip was the commuter rail's annual transformation into the magical holiday train.
The special guests started at Boston's South Station, where they enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies with Mayor Marty Walsh. On the train to the North Pole - also known as Weymouth Landing - the kids were treated to sing-alongs and book readings by local celebrities, including WBZ-TV's own David Wade. On the ride home, the children got to visit with Santa and his elves.
Tickets to the invitation-only event were provided to families served by numerous area non-profits.
