Johnny Pesky's 2004 World Series Ring Sells For $69,000 At Auction

BOSTON (CBS) – The 2004 World Series championship was priceless for Red Sox fans but bidders at an auction Saturday put a price on a piece of it.

Johnny Pesky's 2004 World Series ring fetched $69,000 at an auction in the EMC Club at Fenway Park.

The ring was one of 235 pieces of memorabilia belonging to the longtime Red Sox player, coach, broadcaster, mentor and legend that were up for auction along with other baseball memorabilia.

Johnny Pesky Memorabilia Draws Bidders To Fenway Park Auction

Pesky died in 2012 at the age of 92. He had spent most of his life affiliated with the Red Sox since joining them in 1942.

The ring Pesky was presented when the Red Sox won the 2007 World Series also went for a pretty penny at $29,900.

Pesky's son, David, told WBZ that his father had kept many of the items stored in boxes in his basement for years.
