US Rep. Joe Kennedy Asked To Speak At Democratic National Convention
BOSTON (AP) — A Kennedy is being added to the list of speakers at the Democratic National Convention.
Congressman Joe Kennedy III said Wednesday he was approached by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren about speaking before her expected speech on Monday, the first night of the gathering of Democrats in Philadelphia.
Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, has been vetted as a possible running mate for Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
Kennedy told reporters he didn't know exactly when he would be speaking or for how long.
Kennedy says he's certain the Democratic Party can heal the divisions of the primary campaign and come together now that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has endorsed Clinton. He says Clinton can provide the strong, steady hand that the country needs.
The Massachusetts Democrat is the grandson of Robert Kennedy.
