Is A Hot Dog A Sandwich? Zolak & Bertrand Debate
BOSTON (CBS) -- It's a culinary debate that has taken over the Zolak & Bertrand show for two days now.
Is a hot dog a sandwich?
Hardy thinks a hot dog is indeed a sandwich, and is holding firm with that belief.
"It is filling inside of bread that is kind of open on one side, so it's not a calzone or hot pocket. It's a sandwich, and if it's not, tell me why," he demanded.
Bertrand had one point to combat Hardy's stance.
"It's so unique that it has its own bun. Name one other thing that has its own bun, and you can't say hamburger because that doubles as a sandwich roll," said Bertrand. "You can make a case for a hamburger and cheeseburger to be a sandwich, and I'm almost inclined to say they are. But a hot dog is so unique and so special it has its own bun. Nothing else has its own bun."
Scott Zolak had a hard time listening to Hardy's take.
"Nobody eats a sandwich on a hot dog bun," said Zolak. "It's not a sandwich."
The debate then took a turn into whether finger sandwiches are sandwiches (everyone agreed) and if a Lobster roll is a sandwich (Beetle and Zolak said no, while Hardy went yes).
