Hull Man And Pregnant Wife Charged With Growing Marijuana
HULL (CBS) – A man and his pregnant wife were arrested after police raided a Hull home and found a large marijuana operation.
Hull Police executed a search warrant along with the MetroLEC SWAT team on Thursday.
Once inside the home, police found a "very large quantity" of marijuana plants along with multiple guns and ammunition.
Police arrested David Maglio, 35, and his pregnant wife, Erika Zerkel, 38. Maglio has several previous drug convictions.
According to police, the couple had cultivated nearly 50 marijuana plants.
"The male suspect in this case is a career criminal, well-known to police, who was armed and dangerous," acting Police Chief Robert Sawtelle said. "All precautions were taken, and I am very proud that this investigation came to a conclusion without incident or injury to either the suspects or police officers involved."
Maglio faces a long list of drug and firearm charges.
Zerkel is charged with cultivating and possessing marijuana, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and recklessly endangering her unborn child.
Maglio was held on $80,000 cash bail and Zerkel was released on personal recognizance. Both will be arraigned in Hingham District Court.
