Heat's Whiteside Suspended 1 Game For Throwing Elbow At Celtics' Olynyk

NEW YORK (AP/CBS) — The NBA has announced that Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside has been suspended one game without pay for elbowing Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk.

The league made the announcement on Tuesday.

Whiteside elbowed Olynyk in the back of the neck in the third quarter of Boston's 100-90 win over Miami on Monday night. Whiteside was ejected for the second time in the last four games.
He reportedly reached out to Olynyk on Tuesday and apologized for the incident:

Whiteside will serve his suspension Wednesday night when the Heat hosts the Brooklyn Nets.

The 25-year-old Whiteside is averaging 10.9 points and 9.8 rebounds in 35 games this season for the Heat.
