Harvard's Upset Win Prompts Longtime Sportswriter To Quit
BOSTON (CBS) - The Harvard Crimson's huge first round upset win over the University of New Mexico in the NCAA tournament has apparently had a devastating impact on UNM fans.
Dennis Latta, the editor of Loboland.com, who has reportedly covered the team for 33 years announced in a column he's quitting over the loss.
After the loss, Latta, who apparently had high expectations for his team vowed never to attend another UNM basketball game.
"I won't be wrong again. It was a lot easier to take when expectations were lower. Losing was acceptable because UNM had almost always lost when it really counted," his column read. "You didn't have visions of greatness, only to have them dashed. After the pitiful performance UNM put up against a team that doesn't even offer scholarships, I've given up."
