Quincy Police Solve Gravestone Mystery
QUINCY (CBS) – Quincy police have solved the mystery of an apparent missing gravestone.
A headstone with the name "Carlton Knight Jr. 1917-1996" was found Monday evening on a pile of mulch near the Quincy Towers Condominiums on Washington Street.
Police Capt. John Dougan originally told WBZ-TV they believe it was pulled out of the ground recently because there were leaves and dirt still stuck to the stone.
But it turns out it was just a misspelled stone. The correct headstone for Carleton Knight is sitting undisturbed in a Duxbury cemetery, police said Tuesday.
