Denise Jackson of Lynn, who is legally blind, says the fare hikes have unfairly put more burden on seniors and people like her.

"Fare hikes should be for people that can afford it," she told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

She and four other women were arrested after failing to comply with police Captain Thomas Lee's repeated request to clear the road.

A portion of Charles Street near the Department of Transportation building, was closed during the protest.

Protesters created a mock prison cell in the middle of the street to deliver their message.

The women are facing a charge of disturbing the peace. They may be released on $25 bail.
