Boy With Muscular Dystrophy Rounds Bases At Fenway Park
BOSTON (CBS) – Nine-year-old Liam has run the bases several times at Fenway Park. But his most recent trip around the diamond had extra meaning.
Liam's father, Jeff Mcgourty, shared a video on Facebook this week showing the young Red Sox fan circling the bases at the iconic ballpark.
Mcgourty posted that Liam suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that will likely cost him the ability to walk in the next several years.
"This is his fourth time running the bases at Fenway Park in Boston, and it might be his last," Mcgourty wrote.
Jeff told WBZ-TV that it was an emotional day Sunday watching Liam soak in the moment.
"It meant everything to see that smile on his face running around those bases," he said.
Liam doesn't let his condition slow him down. He was all smiles as he made the trip to home plate.
"When we went it was Wally's birthday and I was on the big screen," Liam beamed.

Liam was so excited about the experience, that he can't bring himself to taking off his baseball glove.
