WOBURN (CBS) A two-decades-old cold case is heating up in the woods of Woburn.
On Saturday, volunteers with cadaver sniffing dogs were searching several wooded areas, looking for the remains of Melanie Melanson.
The 14-year-old Melanson disappeared in October of 1989 after partying in the woods with friends and classmates.

Her Uncle Frank Masciulli says two decades later, the family just wants closure.
"Bring her home. That's all we're interested in is finding her and bringing her home, giving her the proper burial she deserves," he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe.

Melanie's aunt Karen Montgomery echoed those feelings.
"Just a hole in your heart, a hole in your heart. No one deserves to go this way ever. She was too young. Too much life," Montgomery told WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez. "Hopefully we're going to have some closure soon."
Michael Garrigan, the private investigator working the case says he's recently developed new leads that have brought them back to the woods.
"Over the past year or two we have developed leads that were very credible," he said on Saturday.
