Dog Found Tied Up, Abandoned In Everett Park

EVERETT (CBS) – The animal control officer in Everett is trying to find information about a dog that was found tied up and abandoned in a park.

The dog, a female with no chip that was wearing a red harness, was left alone in Florence Street Park Tuesday.

A Good Samaritan called police after witnessing someone tying the dog up and running away.

Officer Frank Nuzzo stayed with the dog and gave it "much needed" water until animal control arrived. It appears the dog was properly fed, and is in good condition.

After a mandatory 7-day stray dog hold, she will be available for adoption.

"We're getting some information coming in from where she possibly could have come from," said Officer Stacia Gorgone.

Anyone who recognizes her is asked to call Everett Police.

The animal control officer said abandoned dogs have become a regular occurrence in Everett. Oftentimes people abandon their pets due to financial hardships or other reasons.

People are asked to contact police if they are considering abandoning their dog, and the department will help in finding a proper home.
