Easton Break-In Suspect Left Car Outside Home He Allegedly Tried To Rob

EASTON (CBS) -- Police are looking for a man who left his car parked outside of an Easton home he allegedly tried to rob on Monday morning.

Officers were called to the Baltic Avenue house shortly after 11:40 a.m. after the homeowner thought they heard someone in his bedroom. While the homeowner waited outside for police to arrive, the suspect left the home on foot and unseen, police say.

However, police say a car parked in front of the home led them to the suspect. The suspect allegedly drove a gray Honda Accord, parked it, and broke into the house through a back door.

After searching the Baltic Avenue and Sheridan Street area using two canine units, police were unable to locate the man. Investigators say they did find identifiable information inside the car.

The suspect, identified as Maurice Abisdid-Wagner, 25, of Tisbury, is believed to have walked to the Easton Middle School parking lot, where he was denied a ride out of town, police say.

A warrant has been issued for Abisdid-Wagner, charging him with daytime breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and malicious destruction of property over $250.

Abisdid-Wagner left a bag full of the homeowner's jewelry inside the house before fleeing, police said.

He has yet to be arrested.
