Crane Falls On Shed, Garage--On Crane Street
DEDHAM (CBS) -- An industrial crane fell Monday morning, missing a home but landing on and damaging a shed and a garage on a neighboring property.
The accident happened on Crane Street. Dedham Police Chief William Spillane said there were no injuries, and the occupants of the nearby home were not present when it fell.
Earlier in the morning, a seven-man crew had cut down a tree on a neighbor's property. The crane flipped on its side while trying to pick the tree up.
Chief Spillane said it wasn't yet known what caused the crane to fall over.
"Right now we don't have a true indication of exactly what happened," said Chief Spillane. "They'll have a better idea once they get the crane back up on its feet, to see whether it was a mechanical issue with the truck itself, or potentially something with the ground or the driveway itself."
A neighbor told WBZ-TV's Bill Shields that he grabbed another neighbor and ran when he saw that the crane was falling.
"It was very scary," he said. "But I'm very grateful that no one got injured or seriously hurt."
