Connecticut Trooper Takes In Orphaned Baby Deer
SOUTHBURY, Conn. (CBS) -- A Connecticut State Police trooper became the unlikely caretaker of two baby deer after a crash left them orphaned.
"Oh deer! Sometimes Troopers get more than they bargain for when responding to a call," police wrote in a Facebook post.
Police said Trooper Ben Pagoni responded to a crash that killed a mother deer. When there was nowhere for the baby deer to go, Pagoni got permission to take them home, where his family helped care for them.
On Monday, police shared the good news that a rescue became available and the deer would have new homes.
