Coast Guard Searching For Adult, 3 Children Off Maine Coast
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says it's searching into the night for a man and three children off the coast of Maine.
The Coast Guard says a man reported he was with three children in a 14-foot "jon boat" that capsized Saturday.
He told the Coast Guard the kids were in the water with life jackets.
On the recording, he says matter-of-factly that they would either climb onto the bottom of the boat or huddle together in the water.
A Coast Guard helicopter, airplane and cutter searched throughout the day about 12 miles (19 kilometers) off Kennebunkport, along with other agencies.
A Coast Guard cutter continued searching after darkness fell.
The search area covers about 530 square miles (1,370 square kilometers).
