Cholesterol-Lowering Medications May Help Women With Certain Types Of Cancer Live Longer
BOSTON (CBS) - Researchers in Australia looked at more than 38,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer, colorectal cancer or melanoma who took cholesterol-lowering medications, like statins such as Lipitor, before their diagnosis. They found that the more consistently women took these medications in the year after they were diagnosed, the lower their chance of dying from the disease.
While much more research is needed, the study suggests that these drugs may have anti-tumor effects.
