Jae Crowder Set To Return To Practice On Wednesday

BOSTON (CBS) -- Jae Crowder is inching his way toward a return to the floor.

It was good news last week when head coach Brad Stevens announced that Crowder would accompany the team on their five-game West Coast trip. On Monday, Stevens said Crowder will hit the practice floor with his teammates on Wednesday, making a return during the second half of Boston's trip very possible.

Crowder has been sidelined since March 11 after suffering a high ankle sprain, and did some light shooting on his own last week. But his return to practice could mean he's back in the lineup Thursday against the Blazers or Friday against the Warriors. He's missed eight games with the injury entering Monday night's tilt against the Los Angeles Clippers, with Boston going 4-3 in his absence.

This is great news for the Celtics, who are trying to clinch one of the top playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference. With just nine games to go in the regular season, they currently sit in the four-seed, half a game behind the Atlanta Hawks and half a game ahead of the Miami Heat.

Crowder has been a big part of Boston's success on both sides of the floor, averaging 14.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 66 games.
