Car Stolen With Dog Inside In Medford

MEDFORD (CBS) -- A car was stolen with a dog inside in Medford on Saturday.

UPDATE: The owner told WBZ-TV on Sunday that the dog has been found safe.

Officers were called to Mystic Avenue at 1:39 p.m.

Police say a man went inside a business for about a minute, left his keys in the car while it was running with the dog still inside. When he came back out, both were gone.

"He was fixing to hop in the car to head to Albany to give back the dog, pick me up and ran into work for 60 seconds with the keys in the car and all the windows down, and by the time he came back the dog was gone," says the victim.

It's unclear what direction the car was headed.

The car is a gold 1997 Lincoln Town Car, with license plate number 395 YK1.

The dog's owner says her boyfriend was dog sitting while she was on a family vacation.

The male dog is a Katrina rescue, she said, adding that it's a black terrier named Nemo. The dog also has a white belly and chin.

The dog is friendly, blind in one eye and "a little stinky," she says.

No arrests have been made.

Investigators say a woman with blond hair in sweatpants was seen outside around the time of the incident, but she was not located and no further description was given.
