Cam Neely On Felger & Mazz: No Desire To Enter Coaching World

Bruins president Cam Neely joined Felger and Massarotti on Thursday for his weekly chat, and with Patrick Roy in town as the new coach of the Colorado Avalanche, the guys started things off by asking Neely if he ever had the desire to coach.

"I'd been offered a couple of assistant coaching jobs as soon as I had to retire from the game. I just felt it wasn't the right time for me," Neely said. "As I got back involved in the game, I didn't really feel like it was something that suited me."

But why?

"Being that low, basically on the bench, I felt like I'd probably want to jump over the boards," Neely said.

Felger and Mazz also asked Neely about the Dennis Seidenberg extension and how the Bruins prioritize keeping their "core guys."

"We feel in today's game, you have to lock up your players, because once they've hit the point where they're going to become a free agent, they'll to test the market," Neely said. "We're really happy with the players that we've identified as our core group, that we feel are going to give us the best chance to win Stanley Cups. And on the flip side, we're happy that they feel the same way about playing here in Boston and feel like this is the best place for them to win championships with the group that's put together."
