Bruins' Loui Eriksson Named To Team Sweden In World Cup Of Hockey

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- Loui Eriksson may not be in a Bruins uniform next season, but he knows what colors he'll be wearing in September. Team Sweden revealed its initial roster for the World Cup of Hockey Wednesday afternoon and, unsurprisingly, Eriksson made the cut.

Eriksson is a Team Sweden veteran, having played in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2013 IIHF World Championship, where Sweden won the gold medal. Sweden won silver at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

Other notable names on the Team Sweden roster include Canucks forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, and Norris Trophy favorite Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators. Check out the full roster and analysis at NHL.com.

The World Cup of Hockey begins September 17, three weeks before the start of the 2016-17 NHL regular season, and takes place entirely at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The NHL-sanctioned event will follow NHL rules, unlike the Olympics or World Championships. The rest of the rosters, including Team USA, Canada and North America, are set to be revealed Wednesday evening.
