As a kid it was Lego's and SEGA, or Candy Land and Pogs. As an adult however, for some reason I've never quite grasped, we're expected to put away our toys (well, most of them) and enjoy people's conversation… Lame. Lucky for adult children like myself, a few places, including Brass Union, don't quite agree with this boring concept either.

This NYC-style tavern will shock your adult taste-buds while appeasing the child within. Grab a board game and a seat in one of the plush leather lounge couches. Or take saddle up to the retro pac-man machine and find out if you still got it. On the surprise summer nights this fall, head to the patio to play giant Jenga or Connect Four; or take your chances with a round of cornhole. For those who prefer to feel like a more mature child (I think they call these tweens? Or just old people…), take a turn at one of the dueling shuffleboard tables.

Whatever game it is that you decide to defeat your friends in, you'll need to stay hydrated. With the beverage list created by director Paulo Pereira, and categorized "Beginner," "Intermediate" or "Expert" drinker, you can even beat your friends at drinking. Or select from the ten rotating craft cocktails, incorporating seasonal ingredients, housemade sodas and syrups. Who knows, maybe you'll find your better when you're drunk.

After working up an appetite at shuffleboard, grab a menu to enjoy a wide selection of Chef Jonathan Kopacz's American-style small plates, such as the roasted chicken with chanterelles, chicken liver mousse, and mustard jus. Or, if you're in the mood for something a little less poultry-like, dig into the roasted parsnips, featuring parsnips puree, arugula and pine nuts, under and hard cider reduction. Now that you've burned off all those calories with the games, continue to satisfy the child with-in by diving into the infamous home-made cookies. Go ahead you deserve it.

If after all of this you still don't feel satisfied (well I can't really help, since I'm here and your there…) but maybe take out those pogs and see if you can score a slammer (not a euphemism).
