Boston's Best 4th Of July 2016 Fireworks Displays

Fireworks are exciting and mesmerizing for all ages. The explosive sounds, the bright colors and the unexpected displays of beauty are magnificent as they blast through the sky over Boston Harbor and the spectacular city skyline. There are also fireworks at some sites not far from the city, which offer great family-friendly opportunities to celebrate America's birthday.

Date: July 4, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. Pops concert with fireworks at 10:30 -11:00 p.m.

The annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is a highly-anticipated highlight of the 4th of July in Boston. Hundreds of thousands of people attend this festive event on the Charles River Esplanade. Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops conductor, leads a star-studded concert in the Hatch Shell, an outdoor venue, which is followed by the 23-minute Fireworks Spectacular. The fireworks are set to the music of the Boston Pops and are nationally televised, as is the second portion of the concert.

Boston Harborfest, a group that celebrates the history of Boston Harbor, hosts a variety of events from July 1 through July 4, 2016. The fireworks display takes place at Long Wharf, near the New England Aquarium and the historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace on July 2 after a live concert. The fireworks flare over the Inner Boson Harbor and are framed by the spectacular city skyline.

Marblehead is a beautiful coastal town about 35 minutes north of Boston. The 4th of July Harbor Illumination begins at 8:45 p.m. and is followed at 9 p.m. by the Fireworks Forever! display. There are several viewing vantage points including Riverbed Beach, Fort Seawall, Fort Beach, Crocker Park and Chandler Hovey Park or Lighthouse, as it is known by the locals. Each of these viewing locations offers a spectacular view of the festivities with a beautiful harbor backdrop.

Falmouth Heights Beach fireworks start at dusk, which makes this a family-friendly viewing venue. Hundreds of boats traditionally anchor close to the barge while thousands of spectators view the fireworks display from the shore, spanning the shore from Nobska Beach, at the tip of Woods Hole, to Menauhunt Beach on Vineyard Sound.

Springfield sits about 90 miles west of Boston and hosts a wonderful 4th of July tradition on the riverfront. The festivities at Riverfront Park start at 7 p.m. with a concert by Dan Kane. Simulcast music on Mix 93.1 FM accompanies the Star Spangled Springfield fireworks display at Riverfront Park, which starts at 9:30 p.m. The patriotic themed tunes include "God Bless America" sung by Celine Dion, "Independence Day" sung by Martina McBride, "America The Beautiful" sung by Alicia Keys and Ray Charles and many more wonderful selections.
