Boston Youth Leaders Journey To Selma, Ala. To Commemorate Historic Day

BOSTON (CBS) -- Nearly two dozen youth leaders and community activists in Boston joined thousands in Selma, Ala., Sunday for the 50th Anniversary of violent clashes in the fight against racial oppression.

The events held Sunday commemorated the "Bloody Sunday" march of 1965 when civil rights activists were met with beatings by police. The violence in Selma on that day become a tipping point in the fight for civil rights in America.

The Boston Youth Leadership Project's "Leadership Pilgrimage" began in Roxbury on Thursday where participants boarded a bus to Selma.
