Boston Preliminary Election Voting Information
BOSTON (CBS) --- Boston's preliminary election is Tuesday, September 24.
The top two vote getters in the mayor's race, top eight vote getters for City Councilor At-Large and the top two vote getters for District City Council will progress to the final Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 5.
Turnout is expected to be strong as Boston voters choose a successor to long-serving mayor Thomas Menino.
Menino announced in March that he would not seek re-election.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
All precincts will have English/Spanish ballots. English/Chinese and English/Vietnamese ballots will be available in precincts where they are needed. Tuesday, interpreters will be available to assist voters in Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects), Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean and Russian as well as a number of other languages.
