BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Children's Museum Centennial Gala was held Saturday night.
Founded in 1913 by the Science Teachers' Bureau, the Congress Street facility is one of the oldest and largest children's museums in the world.
The big birthday bash Saturday celebrating the museum's 100-year history started with fun activities for children, including a "tinker tent," where kids did what they do best: play.
Beginning around 6 p.m., adults clad in gowns and tuxedos gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel for the Centennial Gala. WBZ-TV's Lisa Hughes was among the speakers at the event.
Hughes described the Boston Children's Museum as "a treasure in our back yard."
The party moved to the museum from about 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
