It's time to get in touch with your inner "om" and there is no better way to do just that than with an al fresco yoga class. Whether the exhilarating classes are offered on a rooftop poolside or in a historic park, outdoor yoga classes are designed to relax the mind while rejuvenating the muscles. One of the best ways to experience these powerful classes is outdoors, which allows you to be more in tune with your surroundings. Here is a look at some of the city's best outdoor yoga classes.

376 Boylston St.
Boston, MA 02116
(617) 227-0365

The Esplanade Association invites beginners and experts get their "om" on every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Held at Fiedler Field overlooking the Charles River Basin, the Athleta sponsored sunset yoga classes are designed to increase muscle tone and reduce stress. Seasonal yoga classes are taught here from July through September (be sure to bring your own mat). Classes are free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Before getting your Thirsty Thursday on, head over to The Boston Common Frog Pond on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. for an hour-long session of outdoor yoga. The season runs from June to August and is free to the public. Instructors invite students to meet at the Common Parade Ground located behind the carousel. This is one of the best ways to see the country's oldest public park in the most relaxed setting.

Assembly Row
340 Canal St.
Somerville, MA 02145

On Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., Assembly Row hosts outdoor yoga classes at Baxter Riverfront Park. The riverfront location provides the perfect setting to breathe deeply, exhale, relax and unwind. Classes along the Mystic River are free and the seasonal session runs from May through September. Assume your position, breathe deeply and repetitiously to relieve stress of both body and mind. You don't have to bring a mat here, as it's even more grounding to get in tune with your inner free spirit.
