Bella Bond DCF Worker's Previous Work Under Review

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker says the state's child welfare agency will examine the previous work done by an employee who copied years-old reports when preparing evaluations of the mother of Bella Bond, the 2-year-old whose body was found on a Deer Island in June.

A report from the state's Office of the Child Advocate found that a Department of Children and Families social worker "largely copied information" from 2006, six years before the child who was known as "Baby Doe" was born, when writing reports on the mother in 2012 and 2013, following reports of neglect.

Baker left open the possibility of discipline for the worker, whose name has not been made public.

"We're taking a look not just at that case but other cases that have involved that particular employee to see if first of all, if there's anything we need to learn from that that may represent issues associated with other cases that that employee was involved in, but also to determine whether or not in fact there's action we need to take there," Baker told WBZ-TV Friday.

Michael McCarthy, the boyfriend of Bella's mother is facing a murder charge.  The mother, Rachelle Bond, is charged with being an accessory.
