AG calls for Craigslist crackdown

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley is calling for a Craigslist crackdown.

She says the adult services section of its website facilitates prostitution and human trafficking of men, women and children. She says operators of Craigslist should immediately take down the section in the interests of public safety.

Coakley's comments about Craigslist come shortly after the suicide of Philip Markoff, a 24-year-old former Boston University medical student accused of killing a woman he arranged to meet on Craigslist.

The day after Markoff's suicide, police in Central Florida arrested 15 men who responded to a Craigslist ad placed by undercover investigators.  The ad offered sex with children as young as 8 years old.

Listen to WBZ's Mike Macklin's report on the Craigslist controversy.
