Abraham With Johnston & Flynn: Who Starts In Right Field For Red Sox?
BOSTON (CBS) - With just 17 sunsets and sunrises remaining before Opening Day, the starting lineup for the Red Sox is pretty much already set in stone.
Clay Buchholz will likely start the season off with Christian Vazquez behind the plate. Mike Napoli, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts and Pablo Sandoval have patrol of the infield. Hanley Ramirez is a surefire bet to play in left, and of course David Ortiz is the designated hitter.
His fearlessness as a late-season call up in 2014, coupled with his impressive play so far in spring training and the ability to play the outfield, Mookie Betts is the consensus pick by those covering the team to start the season in center.
That leaves one vacant position: right field.
Manager John Farrell named Shane Victorino the starter very early in spring training, but general leg soreness and recovery from offseason back surgery has limited the Flyin' Hawaiian.
Can Rusney Castillo, the $73 million man, earn the right field spot after an oblique injury has kept him sidelined? Or does a healthy Allen Craig have the upper hand?
