911 Call Details NH Crash That Killed Newlywed Bride

BOSTON (CBS) - The New Hampshire man charged with the drunk driving crash that killed a newlywed bride and seriously injured her new husband is being held on $250,000 cash bail.

Matthew Tsopas, 43, of Somersworth, was arraigned in a New Hampshire courtroom Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors say Tsopas was drinking for several hours before he crashed into Leah and Brian Preiss -- killing Leah.

The Minnesota couple was on a road trip to New England for their honeymoon.

WBZ-TV has obtained the 911 call made by a Good Samaritan who was following the alleged drunk driver.

Roger Myers is a New Hampshire Businessman who tried to help police intercept the driver on Saturday, July 20.

Operator 1: 911, what is your emergency?

Myers: Yes, I have got a driver on the road behind me out of control. I don't know if he is drunk..

Myers: So, he is on Route 4, heading into Dover...

Myers: He just crashed...He just crashed...

Operator 1: Yes sir, one moment, he is reporting that the vehicle has now crashed

Operator 2: They crashed? Is it a black BMW?

Myers: I am on the phone with police already...

Operator 2: He said it was an Infinity...

Myers: ..and the driver left the car and is going down Old Mill Lane...

Operator 2: He is going down Old Mill Lane...

Myers: He is walking down Old Mill Lane...in his underwear...this guy is obviously drunk....

Myers: Is anybody hurt there? We need an ambulance as well...

Operator 1: Thank you. We have one in route..

Operator 2: All right sir...stay on the line...I'm going to notify the ambulance....

Operator 2: That is what you said...someone needed an ambulance...is that correct?

Myers: We do we need an ambulance...

Operator 2: Are you with the patient?

Myers: I am with the driver of the car and he is bleeding and air bags have deployed. We have got two people in the car hurt.

Operator 2: Two people are hurt?

Myers: Yes. Pretty serious...

Operator 2: Is anybody pinned?

Myers: Yes, at least the driver. Two people trapped in the vehicle that he hit...and then he got out and walked away...

Operator 2: If the ambulance is there now I will let you go. Thank you very much for your help.
