79-Year-Old Man Arrested After 74-Year-Old Woman Is Found Dead In NH
DERRY, N.H. (CBS/AP) — A 79-year-old man was arrested for murder after a 74-year-old woman was found dead in Derry, New Hampshire. Police responding to a 911 call early Saturday found the body of Ellen Munstis, who is believed to have been shot to death, in her home.
Shortly thereafter, Roderick Munstis was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Officials said the 911 call was placed by Roderick minutes after midnight.
Police said Roderick Munstis allegedly shot his wife several times sometime on Friday.
"They kinda kept to themselves, never really bothered anybody. I know the husband; this is completely shocking," said neighbor Kirstin Cote.
The couple had no previous history with Derry police and officers never responded to the house for an emergency. Other neighbors say they hardly ever saw the couple come outside.
"Really scary. It was that close to me," said neighbor Sarah Demers
Police said the incident appears to be isolated and that there's no threat to the public. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
Roderick Munstis is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Rockingham Superior Court.
Anywho who has any information is asked to call Derry Police Department Detectives at 603-432-6111.
