1 Person Diagnosed With Tuberculosis At Medford High School
MEDFORD (CBS) -- One member of the Medford High School community has been diagnosed with tuberculosis, the school superintendent confirmed.
Tuberculosis is a airborne disease that is difficult to contract, superintendent Roy Belson said in a letter to faculty, staff and parents.
"Because TB does not spread easily, only those people who had very close or extended contact with this individual would have had a potential exposure to TB," Belson wrote.
Mass. Department of Public Health and Medford Board of Health are investigating the risk of exposure to others at the school.
Belson says the school will follow up with anyone who are identified by investigators as being at risk.
