Young Boy Aspiring To Become Firefighter Meets His 'Real Hero'

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A young boy came face-to-face with his "hero" during a quick stop to the grocery store.

While with his mom, young Joshua couldn't resist the chance to say hello when he saw a firefighter at the Safeway on Sunday morning.

Joshua's mom says he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up.

In a Facebook posted to the Baltimore City Fire Department page, Joshua asked his mother, Ms. Parker, if he could go talk to the firefighter, but she was reluctant to bother Firefighter and EMT J. Callis, assuming he was on his break.

But Joshua couldn't be more ecstatic when Callis said yes!

"J. Callis even went to get the fire helmet out of the Engine and let the young man try it on," said the fire department. "Ms. Parker was so happy because this experience made her son's day."

Joshua was so touched by the experience that after meeting the firefighter he told his mother, "I met a real hero."
