Woman Rescued After Losing Way While Hiking In Md.

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- The Garrett County Sheriff's Office says a woman and her two dogs are safe after becoming lost while hiking in the county's Swallow Falls State Park.

The Sheriff's Office says authorities received a 911 call on Friday at about 2 p.m. from the woman who was hiking on a trail in the park when she became lost. Deputies located the 55-year-old woman, who was airlifted out of the woods by a helicopter and taken to a hospital. She was treated for minor injuries and released.

A Sheriff's Office deputy and an emergency medical technician were later able to get the dogs out of the forest and the woman and her dogs were reunited Friday evening. The Sheriff's Office did not release the name of the woman or her dogs.
